How to Replace an audi lost key G28 Engine Speed Sensor

The sensor is situated on the edge of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a signal to the ECU via the grey wire (T55/49), then to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.

The sensor is located at the edge of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends signals to ECU pin T55/49 via the grey wire. The ECU utilizes this information to control fuel and boost. It also sends an indicator to the G5 Tachometer within the instrument cluster.

The sensor serves as a reference replacement key for audi a3 comparing with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft has reached TDC and also where the camshaft lies to trigger the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails when it fails, the ECU will display a P00160 error message. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is out of alignment with the Intake Camshaft. It could also indicate a chain stretch or a jumped chain link in the upper chain. The code will not appear without the additional information provided by other sensors (G4 or G40).

It can be a bit difficult to test since there are different pins on the connector and each has its own functions. The best method for doing this is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read about 1000 ohms when it is in full operation. Examine for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay if you are experiencing issues with this component.

2. Injectors

Yesterday accelerating full speed from highway paytoll, I experienced an abrupt drop in power like the engine is running out of gas or injectors aren't firing anymore. In the morning, i removed the spark plugs, 3 were drenched with gazoline the fourth one was dry. I put a piece of tissue over each hole in the injector and Replacement Car Key Audi when i start the engine with no sparks, the ones with gazoline jump right out. The fourth one remains shut. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I found 0ohm. I'm assuming the issue is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car can start if the G28 is not plugged in and runs fine when it is connected, but still is experiencing intermittent misfires at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even when unplugged, still shows an ice temperature of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar when the actual pressure is zero.

I'm not sure what to do, i feel i have pretty much completely ruled out all other possibilities. But i'm worried that I may have missed something. Let me know If you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 is activated by a signal by the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is identical to the G4 sender and works on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily locate an extra in a wrecking shop or a parts store. It is simple to test them: simply put your DMM into resistance mode and test the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector's end facing upwards). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

Our 20vt turbo (3B AAN, ABY, and ADU) engines have an ECU that has to be aware of the speed and position of the crankshaft to make a decision about timing of the fuel injectors, etc. It utilizes a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this. If either of these sensors go badly, you will see codes on the diagnostic scanner that can lead to engine shutdown.

Some of the signs of a malfunctioning G28 sensor are an inaccurate rev counter in the gearbox the gears are shifting faster than normal and/or misfiring when you are in gear. If you have any of these problems, it is likely that your sensor is going bad and requires replacement audi key cost. The good thing is that they are very cheap and readily available, especially in the case of an Bosch model, which is what ours are. Alternately, GM's version this part is an excellent choice.

5. Tachometer

A malfunctioning engine sensor can cause a variety of issues in your vehicle. It's a crucial component of the transmission in your Audi Replacement Key Service, as it transmits information to the ECU about how fast or slowly the car's engine is turning. When this sensor fails, it can affect the performance of the transmission and the rest of the car's components.

The G5 engine speed sensor is located on the edge of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU at pin T55/49, via a grey wire. The ECU then uses and processes the signal to control fuel, timig and boost as well as transmitting it to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can check the sensor for any failure by checking the continuity between it and the tachometer. You can also check continuity between ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection on pin T6a/1 (trace [79]) as well as between T6a/1, and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. It should show approximately 1000 ohms resistance between those points. This part is common across the audi a3 keys 80-100-200-RS2 series, starting from the 1985 MC up to the 1997 UrS AN and 1995 RS2 DU So, you may find good ones in wrecking yards.
