I attended a film class on "James Bond and Famous Scenes from the 007 Series" held at Yaizu Community Center.
I love the 007 series of films.
The second film, "From Russia with Love," is particularly excellent.
Sean Connery, who played the first James Bond, shows a soft-hearted side that is not typical of a spy, but his hard-boiled demeanor at key moments is cool.
Daniela Bianchi, who played the Bond girl, is a sensual beauty who is like a cloud that Japanese people cannot reach.
And Matt Monro's sweet singing voice, which begins with "From Rossia..." that plays at the end, brings the film together nicely.
After that, Bond was passed on to Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan, and others, but unfortunately they were all so-so.
Now, the baton has been passed on to Daniel Craig, and he's amazing! In the first movie I saw, "Casino Royale," I was drawn in by the flashy action at the beginning.
I actually went to see this movie during work hours, but it seems that my subordinate was also at the same theater (basically we were both slacking off), and I remember him suddenly saying to me in the evening that day, "This new Bond is great, isn't it?" and I remember being shocked (lol)
His second movie, "Skyfall," is also on a grand scale and is amazing!
I was also surprised when they showed him welcoming Queen Elizabeth at the opening ceremony of the London Olympics!
Even if it's the Olympics, it's a shame to bring out the queen as a cast member of an entertainment movie...
In Japan, the Imperial Household Agency would of course stop the Emperor from appearing, so it's something that can't be done.
This is the movie course on the 007 series, which has many sentimental meanings.
The lecturer is Masato Ozawa, who previously lectured at "Tokugawa Ieyasu's Movie Course."
There have been six actors who have played James Bond over the years (I didn't know one of them), and we attended the lecture while watching a digest of Ozawa's favorite scenes from each actor's movies.
The class lasted two and a half hours with no breaks, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
They also brought pamphlets and records from the time of the films, which I was grateful to have a look at.
A pamphlet for "From Russia with Love," probably from about 50 years ago.
And a similarly nostalgic EP record...
It's such a blessing that such a course is free.
