"The mystery of the Monkey AB27 not being able to rev at high spe…

Could it be because of the carburetor settings? ? ? ?

No, no... it's the CDI ignition timing...

I tried various things,

I made the main jet richer, I made it leaner,

but it wouldn't rev up at high RPM...

It just rumbled when it exceeded 6000 RPM, as if a limiter had kicked in.

? ? ? ? ? ( ゚Д゚)

And to top it off, I even installed a lightweight outer rotor.

So I searched for "VM26 can't rev at high RPMs" and found a blog that said "No matter how rich or lean it is, it rumbles at 6000 RPM."

Oh... I've found a fellow problem ( `ー´)ノ

So, what could the cause be?

It seems to have occurred when the carburetor was changed to VM26 with a standard muffler.

In other words, the exhaust is not cleared well, and the engine becomes clogged with poop at high RPMs, and the engine stops turning...

Wow... I see, he's using his own aftermarket silencer with a baffle.

It's a nuisance to the neighbors...

It's uncool, like the old man is showing off.

(;^ω^)

So,

VM26 main jet 160 pilot jet 17.5

Daytona middle weight outer rotor

Same CDI installed

The last time I drove it, it was making a rumbling noise at over 6000 RPMs, so I removed the baffle.

Hmm... the sound is distorted with a crackling noise.

But the throttle is fine.

So, I started off...( `ー´)ノ

Normally, the engine starts to lose power at around 5000 RPMs, so I shifted up.

Even so, it was not a problem because the top speed was 60 km/h...

Even though the engine can reach 9500 RPM...

The silencer is completely loose and makes a loud noise,

but it revs up much easier.

Ah... so this is the answer... ε-(´∀`*)ホッ

Combined with the lightweight outer, it revs up to high RPMs quickly.

But it's a loud noise.

Even I feel it's noisy when I'm riding it.

I have to do something about it...

The diameter of the silencer outlet was 47.44 mm.

Um, is 47 mm enough?

This is the baffle I had in before. The bottom of the pipe is covered.

Is this okay?

The pipe part can be removed, and the inner diameter when installed is 16 mm

When removed, the inner diameter becomes 22 mm.

I'm sure it will be quieter, but if you can't rev it up to high RPMs again,

you won't know why you bought it.

The silencer socket is 51mm, so you could also replace it with a larger silencer.

This is what I have installed now.
