How to replace audi key fob an audi car key replacement G28 Engine Speed Sensor

In this video Charles the humble mechanic demonstrates how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. The sensor is situated Near by the edges of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a message to the ECU via the grey wire T55/49 and then to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is situated on the outside of the transmission, directly above the flywheel ring. The sensor transmits a signal via the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU utilizes this information to regulate fuel and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to connect the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu needs to be aware of when the crankshaft has reached TDC and also where the camshaft lies so that it can activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails when it fails, the ECU will display a P00160 error message. This means that the Crank Shaft is not in line with the Intake Camshaft. It could also indicate the possibility of a chain stretch or jumpy chain link in the upper timing chain. However, the code won't appear on its own, without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

It's a bit tricky to test since there are different connector pins, and each has its own functions. The best method for doing this is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read about 1000 ohms when it is in full operation. Look for signs of coolant, or oil in the connector bay if you have issues with this part.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when accelerating from highway paytoll at a high speed I noticed a massive reduction in power. It was like the engine was running out of gas. Or, my injectors were not firing. In the morning, i removed the spark plugs, 3 were soaked with gazoline and the fourth was dry. When I crank the engine, there are no sparks, I put a piece of tissue on the top of each of the injector holes and the 3 that were drenched in gazoline jump out but the 4th one stays closed. I inspected the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55,30/55 and 48/55 i get zero Ohm. I assume that the problem is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset the PID but without success. The car will start when the G28 is unplugged, and it runs fine with the G28 connected. However the intermittent misfire issue still occurs at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for the coolant (G62) shows the wrong temp value -49c even when i unplug it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars but the actual pressure is 0.

I don't know what to do. I feel like i've pretty much all other possibilities out. However, i'm afraid that i might have missed something. If anyone has any suggestions, please chime in! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 can be activated by a signal by the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is similar to the G4 sender, and both operate on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. It is easy to find the spare in a salvage shop or a parts store. It is simple to test them - simply switch your DMM into resistance mode and test the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump on the connector's edge facing up). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU of our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY ADU) engines needs to know the speed and position of the crankshaft in order to make a decision about timing of the fuel injector, etc. It uses a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this. If either of these go badly, you will see codes on the diagnostic scanner which can cause the engine to shut down.

The signs of a failed G28 sensor include an inaccurate rev counter for the gearbox and gears that shift faster than normal and/or misfiring when in gear. If you experience any of these problems, it is most likely that your sensor is going bad and should be replaced. The good news is that they are quite affordable and readily available, especially in the case of a Bosch model, which is what ours are. If you prefer, GM's version of this component is a good option.

5. Tachometer

A failing engine speed sensor could be a cause for numerous issues with your car. It's an essential component of your audi replacement key service's transmission, as it sends information to the ECU about how fast or slow the car's crankshaft is rotating. This sensor can cause the transmission to malfunction and other car components to be affected.

The G5 engine speed sensor is located at the outside of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a signal to the ECU at pin T55/49 through a grey wire. The ECU uses this signal to control the amount of fuel and boost, and also timig. It also transmits it to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can check for sensor failure by examining the continuity from the sensor to the tachometer. Additionally, you can verify continuity between pin T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79]), and between pin T6a/1 as well as pin T26a/12. You should detect the resistance to be around 1000 ohms between these two points.
