Path of Exile Item Upgrades

item upgrading upgrades are a common and crucial method to enhance the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can be a good source of extra damage or more AD or even more attachments.

Rare-grade equipment can be superior to modernized Common or Magic equipment because of their high requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a type of upgrade that can be used on weapons and armor items. They improve the stats of whatever item they are attached to. Armor upgrades are found in the game's world and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. Alternately, they can be salvaged from items with upgrade components inside them, using a specialist or more powerful salvage kit.

The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it can absorb. Upgrading a piece of armor to its highest upgrade level will boost its ability to absorb damage. But, it's important to note that this will also raise its weight, requiring it to be heavier than before.

There are several types of armor upgrades available in the game and they all have different effects. Some upgrades give armor an extra amount of health points while others make it more powerful and lighter. The type of armor upgrade that an item can get will be indicated by the name of the upgrade, as illustrated in the table below.

A few of the upgrades are also magical or a combination of technology and magic, which is identified by a "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Additionally, some upgrades require a charge to use, which are identified by an "Charges" entry in the table below. These charges are either updated daily or never expire depending on the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest option to improve your armor. It can be found by exploring and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive, however, it is available from the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can give significant improvement in stats and are a worthwhile cost, especially for single-handed weapons.

The process of upgrading an armor piece to max upgrade level will greatly boost its defense, but the player should be aware that putting more weight on it can drastically decrease its agility and speed. Therefore, it is generally not recommended to upgrade the majority of armor pieces that are higher than +9 since the added defense is generally not worth the extra weight and power costs of the upgrades needed.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades let players increase the effectiveness of certain aspects of the weapon. For example an upgrade could improve the damage that is caused by a shotgun's shells or the accuracy of the rifle sniper. Certain firearms have upgrades that enhance their inherent capabilities. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and minimizes the risk of overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the speed of projectiles to cause more damage).

Most upgrades for weapons require three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons, and a whetblade. These can be obtained by completing side quests or killing a certain amount of bosses and monsters.

Upgrading a Weapon, Equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade item price that is based on a specific number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars you will need to complete the upgrade. If you have multiple upgrade materials The cost of upgrading will be lower.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the ways to upgrade your weapon and equipment sets has changed a bit. In the past, you could seek out an Upgrade Bench and pay a certain number of Bars to upgrade your equipment or weapon to an increased quality. You could do this until the weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level at which point the upgrades would reset.

It's possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. Instead, you're better off going to stores and buying gear with low upgrade levels but excellent base scores and stat distributions. They will also have a chance at gaining you the most prestigious bonuses and blessings.

To increase their level faster, most players will prioritise upgrading their weapons. In addition players, they should also consider upgrading the weapons favored by their squadmates to make them more powerful and effective. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to enhance its effectiveness when accompanied by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels can be used to improve a stat or provide secondary effects in weapons and armor. They can be created through an process known as jewelry crafting, which is where you combine a gem and various reagents at a jewelry table. The higher the level of the gemstone, the better its secondary effect. These reagents can be found around the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and, sometimes, by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.

The quality of a diamond can be improved at the Jeweler in stages that vary from Crude to Royal. The stat boosts will vary depending on the level the jewel is in when it's slotted into jewelry, weapons, or gear.

All tiers of jewels can be made at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary gems that require you to be at a high enough level to be able to get these. Unlike other upgrade components, jewels can be swapped out with another jewel of the same type without damaging the original one. However you can only swap out a jewel in an equipment piece once.

Using more jewels in the movement will make it more smooth and is usually done to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. Apart from improving performance, the jewels also create a surface that is harder than steel, so the repeated friction with pivots doesn't damage them as easily.

In addition to the upgrades mentioned above players can also obtain glyphs for their shields and weapons from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs give a slight boost in power and can be exchanged, however they are not guaranteed to appear as loot. Glyphs are upgradeable, like jewelry, at the Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be taken out and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, like traits and aegis are not swappable, and can only be recovered using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them with the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are items of equipment that offer an array of tiny but valuable advantages to your hero. They are available in the starter area as loot or personal story rewards. They can also be obtained from vendors as well as through completing road interaction. They can be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinkets a player unlocks will be the cloak, which gives a small, but valuable boost to movement speed and evasion. The player can then collect necklaces, rings, and amulets in a similar fashion to how they acquired weapons and armor. Every piece of equipment has an upgrade slot which can be universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be used on any piece of equipment. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced and only work with certain trinkets.

These trinkets also grant additional buffs and skills that remain active even when the character is not fighting. This allows the hero to perform better when they are not active and also helps fill in the void of a solid team or the absence of any slots from the talent tree that would normally be filled with the hero's Best item upgrade statistics.

A good rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you will not replace in the near future, then any items with desirable stats but less important than the iLevel of the item that is being upgraded. This is especially true when you're looking to upgrade several statistics on an item upgrade. It's more beneficial to upgrade a single important stat instead of two subpar ones.

In the beginning of the game players in the jungle are likely to upgrade their trinket to a red, while top and mid players will usually opt for a green or pink ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices can affect the hero's ability to manage the map.

Apart from the items mentioned above, players can also discover a variety of other trinkets in the game in the form of awards and trophies. These can be obtained by completing certain milestones in the story. For example, completing the main quest for a chapter or defeating an opponent. These can be viewed by selecting the relevant achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
